Welcome Maria Ström!

Say hi to our new colleague Maria Ström.

We are thrilled to announce our new colleague! A big welcome to Maria Ström, a warm and extremely competent leader, with an inspirational vision for the future of textiles.

Maria is an old friend of The Loop Factory. In fact, you might know her already as she has committedly co-developed the TexChain-initiatives and is a passionate force in sustainable innovation projects. Always with circular solutions top of mind.

We asked Maria a few questions so we all can get to know her better:

Hey there Maria! Tell us a bit about you!
I am an engaged engineer with a passion for sustainability and circular solutions. I live in northern Halland with my family and during spring and summer you will find me on my knees in my garden taking care of my plants. In the winter, I like to go skiing, both cross country and downhill.

What is you background?
I have many years of experience from working with sustainable textiles and regional development projects. Originally, I come from the forest industry with 20 years’ experience holding leading positions in productivity, process development and procurement. I hold a Technical Licentiate in pulp bleaching and a Master of Science in chemical engineering.

What do you hope to bring to The Loop Factory?
My network of actors! As I have been working for 25 years in a variety of positions and areas, I will bring an extensive network including areas like textiles, pulp and paper, and national and regional development actors. I have been working with process and technical development, procurement, project and change management, as well as with national and regional initiatives including many different stakeholders (industry, innovation actors, authorities, public organizations, NGOs etc). Also, I am a commitment team worker and hope to contribute together with my new colleagues.

What attracted you to The Loop Factory?
The Loop Factory has an ambition to make real change and contribute to a more sustainable and circular society, always aiming to put the solutions on the market to have an impact. A quick step from theory to practice.  Another important factor was the Loop team, dedicated, problem-solving, and good people!

In what way do you want to be involved and contribute to a better world?
By supporting circular innovations both with setting up projects and networks, generate and execute ideas, building a strong The Loop Factory that can continue to support and create collaborations with companies and actors to realize sustainable and circular solutions.

What is your secret talent?
As a teenager, I made (sew) almost all my clothes, and maybe that is where I got the attitude “Oh, here is a problem, how will I/we solve this?” Instead of thinking “Oh, here is a problem that I cannot solve”.

When not at work, what are you up to?
Gardening, skiing, taking long walks in the surroundings at our house (close by the see), dinners with friends, family time – I also like to read books and novels, not so much time for that though.

So far Maria, how do you like your first time here at The Loop Factory?
Enjoying every minute!

Lucky Loop that this great collaborator joined us early 2022. Maria is the perfect fit to take our textile and innovation segments to the next level together with her team.

Let’s all give Maria Ström a warm welcome!

Welcome Maria!
