A WOOL SWEATER BECAME A SOUND ABSORBER

At Åkulla Outdoor Resort, sustainability is a keyword. The concept of sustainability shows in how they cook with ingredients that are in season and locally produced as far as possible. The concept of sustainability is now also expressed when noise is to be reduced in the restaurant.

Through the Speed Up Halland project, we and the landlord Varbergs Fastighets AB developed sound absorbers for the restaurant in Åkulla Outdoor Resort. The absorbers are made from approx. 25 kilos of waste material that comes from the manufacturing of woolen garments, by the Ivanhoe brand, material that would otherwise have been burned.

This is a project that went from a need to a finished product within 8 months. - Innovations must be implemented together, that's how you share the risk as well as the joy when the ideas bear fruit, says Helena Tuvendal, senior project manager.

Now the sound absorbers are installed and measurements show that the noise level has dropped by as much as 10 decibels.  - An exciting project and a good product that we may see in other forms and more environments in the future, says Anna-Kajsa Stengård, business developer, Varbergs Fastighets AB.
