pilot: Duni goes circular

Circular solutions. Feasability project for investigating challenges and possibilities with recycling tablecloths and napkins inte new products. joint material concept and workshop with Duni.

BACKGROUND

Duni wanted to explore possibilities with a certain material in their business that has a short life spann. The aim was to increase the circular mindset within material development, and therefore increase the material’s life.

CHALLENGE

This project was investigational at an early stage, and therefore we had to be as broad as possible and only focus on showing the material’s properties. Therefore, the challenge was to develop the material without a clear goal, to find the extremes and variation possibilities that you can achieve with different treatment methods.

SOLUTION

We produced material prototypes that illustrated different properties: Tactility, shaping possibilities, strength, softness, detail richness. Together with Duni, we held a workshop with representatives from the food sector value chain. The aim was to increase awareness of waste streams, and possibilities in using that stream for other purposes.

RESULT

The workshop resulted in a prototype session, leading to important discussions about the industry and what each represented sector could contribute with.
