Paper pallet foot

The goal was to redesign an existing paper pallet foot to make the manufacturing cost lower without losing performance in the product. The existing pallet foot had high requirements regarding strength and carrying high loads. The project resulted in a new design of the pallet foot that met the requirements of a lower manufacturing cost, lighter product, same properties and also possible to manufacture in existing machines.

BACKGROUND

On behalf of the customer, the existing paper pallet foot would be redesigned to reduce production time and product price. The goal was to design as light a pallet foot as possible at a lower manufacturing cost without losing its properties.

CHALLENGE

Create something cheaper to manufacture and weighed less without compromising on its properties.

solution

We created a new design where a smaller amount of paper was used to reduce costs both in terms of raw material and production time.  

RESULT

The result was a change in the customer's production of paper pallet feet where neither manufacturing machinery nor performance needed to be changed. The change was a smaller amount of raw materials at a lower price per manufactured pallet foot.
